The
K-Series has seen more makeovers than the Oprah show it seems.
Once again we are in the version 2 part of our second version.
Yes. This is improved even further over the 2004 (v.2) versions.
This driver goes even further to meet our exacting standards
of performance, quality, and dependability. We've dropped
every last bit of eD technology and know how that made the
speakers from the past (that made us famous for making great
subwoofers) into these little packages. All the same testing
process', high performance parts, and exacting demands that
created the award winning speakers eD has produced over the
years influenced the new Kv.2. That legendary sound quality
is now louder, and handles more power!
The
K has been one subwoofer that has always had it's place in
our line. We continue to redefine the kind of performance
and style you can get for the money. The new Kv.2 features
a long list of proprietary eD owned and designed parts. The
cones, spiders, surrounds, gaskets, motors, even the spider
landings are all new proprietary tools that belong to Elemental
Designs. This means you can't buy it anywhere in the world
at any price from anyone else.
This
is something most audio manufactures selling products in any
price range in any audio market can't say. We are truly in
the select few audio manufactures in toady's world who take
the time to engineer and tool parts specifically for our products
to get the performance out of them our clients deserve.
This
kind of linear movement in a speaker in this price range is
unheard of. Even more so when that driver features the kind
of technology our speakers have come to represent. No holds
barred, even in our 'low line' drivers. Some companies offering
5 lines, 150 watt to 5000 watt speakers and they can't even
match this type of performance. We did it in a 100 and some
odd dollar speaker. Another wonderful feature is shallow mounting
depth. Kv.2 series will fit in just about any box no matter
how shallow or small. Massive amounts of quality output are
what the K is all about.
The
new Kv.2 features a redesigned Co-Linear motor with integrated
rear depth clearances in the bumped pole vent. This allows
for superior motor control over the voice coil and long throw
ability while maintaining excellent drive unit efficiency.
A stamped 5 spoke basket, a high excursion santoprene rubber
surround, nickel plated push pin terminals, high excursion
progressive spider technology (With integrated FLEX technology),
an advanced cooling system (now built into the cone and voice
coil), and built with the highest level of quality control
the world over. Woven tinsel leads to insure NO tinsel slap
(a rarity in it's price range). The K offers ground breaking
performance for a unheard of price. The same parts integrity
as our flagship models just in 'miniature form.'
So
what changed that makes the new Kv.2 so great? We'll be happy
to tell you.
- The
move to a stamped basket. This basket allows us greater
rearward clearance with the newly tooled spider landings
that in tern allows better performance and power handling.
It also cuts down on weight. The result is better sound
quality, more output, better power handling, and better
durability.
- The
move to newly designed poly cones. The poly cone design
actually has all of the advantages of the old flat cone
design with it's rearward clearance and zero triple joint.
What it does much better however is handle abuse and moisture.
The paint is also more consistent and with the integrated
vent system it increases cooling. The result is better power
handling and durability.
- The
spiders are even new. The new spiders utilize FLEX design
which allows Co-Linear to work. The FLEX design has a incredibly
centralized weight distribution allowing very little rocking
even at high excursion. This means at high output you have
better sound quality, more power handling, and better durability.
- All
new purpose built motors. On the flat cone versions the
K-Series all had 1 motor. They shared one design. The new
versions each motor, spider, voice coil, cone, surround
(and so on) are engineered specifically for that speaker.
The new eD motors (dubbed ERCM.37, ERCM.50, ERCM.62) all
share frighteningly tight tolerances and exhibit stunning
performance.
- High
Excursion Eu-Surround design. While this technology was
originally developed for the yet to be released Av.2 series
the new Kv.2 and Ov.2 have benefited a great deal from that
development. The new surround offers more cone area, less
weight, and more clearance. The result is better sound quality
at high output. More output. Better durability and more
clearances.
These
improvements result in higher output in the same enclosures
with the same great sound quality and extension you've come
to expect. We've made the speakers take more power and handle
more abuse while actually INCREASING efficiency and giving
them more output. Price even stayed the same!
Available
in both dual 4 ohm voice coils and dual 2 ohm voice coils
makes the Kv.2 useful in any situation where your wanting
to use from 100 to about 600 watts.. The Kv.2 drivers are
designed to extract every last bit of bass from the smallest
enclosures, TRUE (designed to work in less than 1cf enclosures)
small box woofers that perform like you wouldn't believe in
spaces so small it's almost as if they are not there at all.
Lose less trunk room, have more sound. It's extremely accurate,
it's extremely eye opening, it's the new Kv.2.
